Courses for the Clueless

Whether you are new to the world of wine or you are an industry professional looking to level up, we have a class catered to your needs. Courses can be fully customized to fit your needs—offered individually or as a package, they can be more basic or more in depth, in-person or virtual.

Previously offered courses include:

  • Does using the right wine glass make a difference? You bet it does. But don't take our word for it, experience it for yourself!

The bowl shape of each type of glass has been engineered to bring you the maximum sensory experience by crafting the optimal shape, size, and rim diameter for the type of wine you're drinking. This course includes a glass by glass wine tasting that will allow you to truly see just how much difference a wine glass can make.

  • Learn how to identify the specific aromas and flavors in your wine.

Ever share wine with someone who barely lifts a glass to their nose and can tell you three things they are smelling before you've determined if it's even a red or white wine? Where do all of the aromas and flavors come from? Learn the steps needed to get you tasting and describing wine like a pro. Compare essences of aromas that you typically find in wine to help you identify that thing that you know you're smelling but can't quite put your finger on!

  • Learn about the basic wine terms you always hear but are afraid to ask.

Face it, wine terms can be confusing. But they're awfully helpful when trying to describe what you like to someone at your friendly neighborhood wine shop and restaurant. Learn some common basic wine terms the only way we know how—by drinking it.

  • Discover the impact of terroir, viticulture, and winemaking on the taste of a wine.

There are so many influences that originate from both nature and people that affect both the smell and taste of a wine. In this course, you'll taste wines made from the same grapes—but from different places and with different winemaking techniques—to demonstrate those unique influences. Who knows, maybe you'll change your mind about Chardonnay!

  • Yes, we love wine with everything and we'll show you how easy it is to pair wine with food.

Ever find yourself sitting at a restaurant looking through a 20-page wine list and trying to figure out which wine goes with your prime rib and your dinner mate's salmon salad? Get more comfortable finding that wine by tasting wines in combination with cheese & chocolate. Also, find out the number one rule in pairing wine and food.

  • Get to know your wine grapes, including some you may not have heard of.

Let's try to set aside that favorite go-to wine and find some new favorites! We know it's scary to try a wine you can barely pronounce, but we hope you'll see how delicious and fun it is to drink outside your comfort zone. Learn about and taste some wines made from lesser-known wine grapes and open up a whole new wine world!
